For the last couple of years I have enjoyed painting poinsettias. The holiday time is the only opportunity to paint these beautifully colored plants so I always to try to purchase a couple as soon as they hit the floral departments. I really like painting from live flowers and plants whenever possible. There is something about the light hitting the leaves and petals that is more energetic than silk. There is also a translucent quality from the live plants that I observe.
